Botetourt County Crews Respond to Garage Fire

Just before 7PM on Tuesday August 3 crews responded for a report of a structure fire in the 2000 block of Catawba Road. Crews arrived to find a detached garage heavily involved with fire with a home endangered. Crews from Troutville, Read Mountain, Fincastle, Blue Ridge, and Botetourt County responded.  The original structure involved was a total loss, however the home was saved with only minimal damage.

 

Special Operations Team Responds

Company 2 was dispatched to a report of a hunter injured in the woods about a half mile off of Mountain Pass Road. Additional assistance was requested from Read Mountain Fire and the Special Operation Team (SOT). With the assistance of one of the hunter’s friends, rescuers located the victim who had suffered a leg injury. The patient was packaged and loaded into a Stokes rescue basket with a wheel and then transferred to the Special Operation Team’s Rough Terrain Vehicle (RTV).

Once transported out of the woods by the RTV, the victim was transferred to a waiting ambulance and transported to a local hospital. Members from Troutville, Read Mountain, Botetourt County Special Operation Team and Botetourt County Emergency Services assisted with the rescue.
